AOL Music writes today about Fergie’s musical inspiration citing Fiona Apple, Nine Inch Nails Jill Scott and India.Arie as the major influences on Fergie’s music in her recent album ‘The Dutchess’ in which Fergie had drawn attention for her confessional lyrics.
“I love Fiona Apple’s records. I think she goes to a very dark place, and I can relate with that,” she says. Fergie also holds deep admiration for other dark musical poets, such as Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor. “‘Hurt’ is one of my favorite songs,” she says. And of the current R&B crop, she notes that Jill Scott and India.Arie “possess the kind of soulful intimacy and [are] always coming with new, clever ways to look at an idea, new ways to say something. John Legend is another one. He gives you songs about relationships, but they’re not always positive. There’s conflict, and I really like that.”
Fergie is featured in this month’s issue of Cawaii! Magazine. The girl with her is Koda Kumi, a Japanese singer who I haven’t a clue as to why she appeared in the magazine… Is she the Japanesse equivalent of Fergie?
Fergie showed up in last night award show of the Billboard music awards along with W.illiam of the Black Eyed Peas. They gave a great performance of the song Fergalicious.
